Box Score WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University baseball team fell to Washington College here Sunday at Hoy Field, 20-6.
The Bison (2-6) fell behind quick as the visiting Shoremen (2-1) scored eight runs in the first inning and later plated four runs in the third to chase GU starting pitcher Elijah Watters (Victorville, Calif.).
Gallaudet got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Sophomore Mitchell Dolinar (Las Vegas, Nev.) tripled to left-center field and junior Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) got on due to a hit by pitch. The Bison, with runners at the corners, pulled off a double steal as Dolinar dashed home to tally GU's first run. Washington College starting pitcher Nick Brauer walked the next two batters to load the bases and then hit senior Austin Altman (Irvine, Calif.) to force home a run. After a pitching change, the Shoremen got out of the jam and got the final two outs as the Bison left the bases loaded.
GU loaded the bases, again, in the bottom of the fourth when sophomore Josh Dugan (San Antonio, Texas) walked, Dolinar singled and Dolsbaugh walked. That set the stage for senior Gilwon Seo (Hongseong, South Korea) to single home two runs with a single through the right side of the infield. Senior Winston Lane III (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) followed and drew a walk to load the bases before Shoremen pitcher Jay Nesson struck out the next two batters to end the threat.
The game remained in favor of Washington College, 12-4, until the seventh inning when the visitors scored eight more runs to put the game out of reach.
Gallaudet added a run in the seventh and eighth innings to cap the scoring.
