Box Score UTICA, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University women's basketball hung tough against SUNY Poly, the top team in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), here Saturday afternoon until the host Wildcats pulled away in the fourth quarter to win, 91-68.
Gallaudet (9-16, 7-9 NEAC) got within four points, 49-45, midway through the third quarter before SUNY Poly (18-7, 16-0 NEAC) went on a 15-2 run to close out the frame and lead 64-47.
The Wildcats broke away in the fourth quarter and led by as much as 25 points as they completed a perfect NEAC regular-season record to earn the top seed in next week's conference tournament.
Junior guard Kendall Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) scored a game-high 22 points to go with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Fellow junior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) added 12 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Freshman guard Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) netted 12 points, passed out four assists, grabbed three boards and made three steals. Freshman forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) scored 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks. Freshman guard Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) rounds out the starting five with eight points.
SUNY Poly was paced by forward Jaida Washington's 18 points and forward Cassidy Albright's double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Taylor Ann Day matched Washington with 18 points as she came off the bench to make 9 of 11 shots from the field.
