Time runs out on Bison comeback against Fighting Tigers

Box Score

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University women's basketball team lost 83-77 on the road here Friday night to SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game.

Gallaudet (9-15, 7-8 NEAC) trailed for the majority of the game against SUNY Cobleskill (11-13, 6-9 NEAC) in the Iorio Gymnasium. The Fighting Tigers outscored the Bison 21-16 in the opening quarter and took a 45-37 lead into halftime.

The Bison made things interesting in the fourth quarter when GU came back from 12 points down. The Bison cut the Fighting Tigers' lead to one, 75-74, on a Kendall Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) layup at the 3:08 mark. The game was stuck at 79-77 for over a minute as the game headed towards the end of regulation. GU missed two shots during that stretch, which would've tied the game.

SUNY Cobleskill scored its final four points at the free throw line in the closing seconds to secure the win.

Freshman guard Sunita Schmidjorg (Austin, Texas) scored a career-high 27 points as she made half of her shots from the field (9-for-18). Hudson recorded the double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) added 11 points, nine steals, six assists and four boards. Freshman forward Cassidy Perry (Frederick, Md.) scored 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and made one steal.  Freshman Rajena Guettler (Frederick, Md.) was GU's fifth starter in double figures with 14 points.

The Fighting Tigers were led by forwards Gabby Muraczewski (15 rebounds) and Anna Post (12 rebounds) who both scored 22 points.
