Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

AURORA, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University baseball team celebrated its first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win of the season here Saturday as the Bison defeated the Wells Express, 3-2, in the first game of the twin bill.

Gallaudet (4-28-1, 1-11 NEAC) snapped a 16-game winless streak as it picked up its first road win of the season.

In the second game, Gallaudet got doubled up by Wells (12-16, 2-10 NEAC) as the Express scored 15 runs in the seventh inning en route to a 22-11 win.

Game 1: Gallaudet 3, Wells 2
Sophomore Winston Lane (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) hit the team's first home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning to give Gallaudet a 3-1 lead. Wells added a run in the bottom of the sixth but couldn't tie things up the seventh when they had runners on the corner.

Freshman Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) picked up his first collegiate win on the mound as he threw six innings where he allowed two runs on six hits and walked five. Senior Dylan Hayes (Endicott, N.Y.) relieved Drolsbaugh in the seventh to earn his first career save.

The Bison trailed 1-0 after Wells got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI double by Justin Forster.

Junior Ryan Gilbert (Mount Dora, Fla.) hit a double to right field in the top of the sixth with two outs to plate fellow junior Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.), who reached base due to a Wells throwing error. The next batter was Lane who took a Zach Kemp (4-2) pitch deep to right field for the two-run shot.

Wells scored its second run in the bottom of the sixth on a Drolsbaugh wild pitch.

Game 2: Wells 22, Gallaudet 11
Gallaudet picked up where it left off in the first game and held a lead and then lost it, stayed close for a few innings, before things unraveled.

GU took its only lead of the game in the top of the fifth inning when the Bison scored twice. Drolsbaugh tripled to center field as senior catcher Jake Grindstaff (New Market, Md.) scored Gallaudet's first run of the game. Upton followed with a RBI single to plate Drolsbaugh as the buff and blue led 2-1.

Wells went on to outscore Gallaudet 21-4 over the next two and a half innings. The Express broke open a 7-6 game with 15 runs in the bottom of the seventh. Wells batted around two times in the seventh as GU used six pitchers. The Express sent 21 batters to the plate and scored 15 runs on eight hits, eight walks and left the bases loaded.

GU scored four runs in the top of the eighth, three coming off a triple by sophomore Frank Diaz (Far Rockaway, N.Y.), and one run in the ninth to end the game down 11.
