GU falls to Marymount in Bison Classic

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University baseball team lost 24-2 to Marymount (Va.) University in seven innings here Sunday on a cold, wet and raw afternoon at Hoy Field. The scheduled nine-inning game was called in the seventh due to darkness after three hours and 25 minutes of play.

Gallaudet freshman Darren Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) hit a two-run single up the middle in the bottom of the third inning to cut the Saints lead to six, 8-2. Marymount added 16 unanswered runs the rest of the way.

Junior Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.) started on the mound and lasted 2.2 innings where he allowed eight runs (seven earned), seven hits, five walks and one strikeout.

Kenny Sysyn (1-0) took the win as he pitched five innings where he allowed two runs on four hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

Muhlenberg won the Bison Classic with a perfect 3-0 record after it beat Marymount 5-4 in 10 innings in the first game of the day.

Gallaudet is back home on Wednesday, Feb. 28, when they host Hood College at 2:30 p.m. for a nine-inning game.
