Last-second shot beats Bison on the road

ABINGTON, Pa. – Penn St.-Abington guard Yusef Savage (19 points) made a jump shot with four seconds left to hand Gallaudet University its second North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's basketball loss, 63-61, here Tuesday on the road. The loss snaps a three-game win streak for the Bison (3-5, 0-2 NEAC).

The victory, the first for Penn St.-Abington (1-8, 1-1 NEAC) this season, overshadowed a career game by sophomore Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.). The 6-foot-5 forward scored a game-high 27 points as he made 9 of 16 shots from the field and went 9-for-13 from the free-throw line. Cruz brought down a team-high eight rebounds and made four steals.

Junior Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) made his season debut as he scored 11 points off the bench to go with four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Senior guard Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) and junior center Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) were held to single digits as the pair only had eight points in the loss.

Devin Jones led the Nittany Lions with 24 points and six rebounds as three different Penn St.-Abington players scored in double figures. The Nittany Lions led 29-24 at the half.
