Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University baseball team showed true grit on Sunday as the Bison battled back from down four runs, 6-2, and scored four runs in the seventh inning to tie the game before it lost to Keuka College, 8-7. The Wolfpack swept the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader after it took the first game, 13-0 in nine innings at Kuhl Field.

Gallaudet (5-23, 3-7 NEAC) started the late-inning comeback in the sixth when junior Chase Magsig (Hudsonville, Mich.) doubled home freshman Jake Grindstaff (New Market, Md.) to cut the Keuka lead in half, 6-3. The Wolfpack (9-18, 4-4 NEAC) answered with a run in the bottom half to take a four-run lead into the seventh.

Freshman Kyle Gumm (Dallas, Texas) doubled home senior Tom Pangia (Hammonton, N.J.) to start things off in the seventh with one out. After a strikeout, Grindstaff stepped to the plate and hit an infield single, which scored Gumm. Freshman Dylan Hayes (Endicott, N.Y.) followed with a RBI single to left field to plate sophomore Zack Crawford (Newnan, Ga.). Kevin Franz came in from the bullpen to relieve Ryan Lawrence with runners on first and second base and two outs and Keuka holding onto a 7-6 lead. Franz surrendered a hit to Magsig, who singled to right-center field, as Grindstaff hustled from second base to score the tying run. Hayes stood 90 feet away at third base and the game knotted at 7-7. Sophomore Justin Strong (Charlotte, N.C.) stepped to the plate and popped up to ths shortstop to end the Bison rally.

GU got the first two batters out to start the bottom half of the seventh. Kyle Dailey singled and advanced to second on a Crawford throwing error. A pinch runner and intentional walk later, pinch hitter John Rizzo stepped to the plate and singled to center field. Pinch runner Jared Taylor came around to score the game-winning run.
