WASHINGTON – A strong second half of shooting by the Gallaudet University men's basketball team helped the Bison hand Lancaster Bible College its first loss since November on Saturday in a 64-46 rout at the Field House.

Gallaudet (12-5, 8-3 NEAC) increased its winning streak to five games, the most for a Bison team since 1991. Lancaster Bible (15-2, 9-1 NEAC), the leaders in the NEAC South Division, suffered its first loss in the conference and first loss since Nov. 15 at Messiah College.

The Bison were nearly perfect from three-point range in the second half as they made 7 of 8 shots (87.5 percent). The lone miss from long range came with 50 seconds left in the game.

GU broke open the game during a four-minute stretch of the second half. The Bison took a 25-18 lead into halftime and were clinging to a 32-29 advantage at the 15:33 mark when freshman Rashad Gatlin (Chicago, Ill.) made a basket. That was the start of a 16-4 run that saw junior guard Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.), Gatlin and senior Ben Coleman (St. Paris, Ohio) sink three-pointers. Coleman had two three-pointers during the decisive stretch. When the smoke settled the Bison were ahead 48-33 with 11:33 left in regulation.

Gordon, the leading scorer in the NEAC, finished with 18 points, seven rebounds and four three-pointers made. Coleman was 3-for-3 from three-point range and finished with 11 points. Sophomore forward Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) came off the bench to net 11 points, grab six rebounds and make two blocks. Sophomore guard Raymond Nelson (Riverside, Calif.) scored nine points and passed out a game-high five assists while Gatlin finished with seven points. GU received contributions from senior Anton Jackson (Detroit, Mich.), who collected six rebounds, junior guard Todd Bonheyo (Frederick, Md.) passed out four assists and freshman Andy Cruz (Bronx, N.Y.) grabbed four rebounds.

Dondre Perry and Albert Suniga led the Chargers on offense as the pair scored 10 points each. Forward CJ Dunston had a game-high 12 rebounds in the loss. The Chargers shot 27.8 percent from the field (15 of 54) and only converted on 4 of 19 shots from three-point range.

The Bison will try and add to their win streak tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 1) when they host Penn St.-Berks (4-12, 4-6 NEAC) at 3 p.m.
