Box Score WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team defeated Wilson College, 86-27, in a North Eastern Atlantic Conference (NEAC) game at the Field House on Sunday. This is the third time this season the Bison have won three games in a row. The 59-point victory is the largest for the Bison this season.
Gallaudet (11-10, 8-4 NEAC) went on a 7-0 drive to start the game as the Bison stormed through the first half to take a 44-6 halftime lead over the Phoenix (2-13, 1-10 NEAC). The Bison scored 15 straight points to start the second half, in four minutes, to extend their lead to 59-6.
The Bison were led by senior forward
Lindsay Stergio (Montville, Conn.), who posted a double-double as she scored a game-high 26 points, collected 14 rebounds and passed out six assists. Junior guard
Danielle Warren (San Jose, Calif.) was next in scoring with 18 points. Junior forward
Lane Peters achieved the games second double-double with a game best 20 rebounds and 15 points, as well as four assists, two steals and a block. Senior guard
Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) was the fourth member of the team that reached double figures with 12 points to go with five assists and four steals. Senior guard
Stephanie Weiss (Wellington, Fla.) added five points, six rebounds and eight assists. Junior forward
Elena Ciccarelli (Whitesboro, N.Y.) chipped in six points and six rebounds while freshman
Jazzmin Washington (Orlando, Fla.) rounded out the scoring with four points, three rebounds and three assists.
Vanessa Whitfield, the leading scorer in the NEAC, for Wilson was held to 10 points below her average as she made 4 of 16 shots from the field for 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Gallaudet will go on the road to take on conference foe Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m.
