Gordon leads the way against two-time defending NEAC champions

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore guard Trey Gordon (Talladega, Ala.) scored 20 or more points for the third straight game for the Gallaudet University men's basketball team as they faced the two-time defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) champions Morrisville State College on Friday night. The Bison (6-18, 5-12 NEAC) lost the road contest 76-57.

Gordon scored 16 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as he made 4 of 5 from 3-point range in the opening 20 minutes of the game. Gallaudet held an eight-point lead, 32-24, over the Mustangs, who made the NCAA tournament Sweet 16 last season. Morrisville St. (16-8, 12-5 NEAC) went on an 18-0 run in the final five minutes of the half to take a 42-32 lead into intermission.

Freshman Joshua McGriff (Somerset, N.J.) scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds while junior guard Ben Coleman (St. Paris, Ohio) added eight points and four assists. Three other Bison scored two points in the loss.

Three different Mustangs reached double figures led by Brandon Hanks and Jordan Prior as they poured in 12 points each.

GU will close out its season tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 22) with an away NEAC game at Cazenovia College at 1 p.m.
