Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gallaudet University picked up two more women's volleyball victories on Saturday at the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg College to complete the first weekend of the season with a 3-1 record. The Bison defeated Dickinson College, 3-1, in the morning and won in straight sets over Penn St.-Altoona in the afternoon. Junior outside hitter Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) was named to the all-tournament team for her play during the two-day classic.
Gallaudet (3-1) dropped the first set against Dickinson, 16-25, but woke up and rattled off three consecutive set wins, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21 to notch the second win of the year. Frowick led the offense with 18 kills and 30 digs while senior Lane Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.) added 14 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) passed out 21 assists and made 10 digs while freshman Tarja Lewis (Frederick, Md.) recorded 20 assists. Sophomore libero Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) made a team-high five service aces and 22 digs.
In the final match of the weekend, the Bison recorded attack percentages of 36 and 32 percent in the first two sets, respectively. Frowick tallied 16 kills and 15 digs while Peters chipped in eight kills and 14 digs. Lewis led the team with 23 assists and 10 digs while Hoglind had 10 assists and 10 digs. Fetzer had a team-high 21 digs and one service ace. Junior Julia Wolff (Belleville, Ontario) had six kills to go with two block solos and four block assists.
Gallaudet will travel to Allentown, Pa., next week for the two-day Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College on Sept. 6-7. The Bison will begin the tournament against Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m., followed by a match against Moravian at 7 p.m.
