MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – For the tenth time this season the Gallaudet University softball team was swept in a doubleheader as the Bison lost 7-0 and 9-1 in six innings Sunday against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent Penn St.-Harrisburg.

Gallaudet (11-25, 1-15 NEAC South) had chances to score in the first game but the Bison stranded 12 runners on base in seven innings. GU left the bases loaded twice and stranded two ore more runners on base in four of the innings. Senior outfielder Alicia Johnson (San Jose, Calif.) reached base three times as she went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Gabrielle Wolfe (3-14) picked up the win in the pitching circle as she threw a complete game where she allowed seven hits, walked five and struck out five for the Nittany Lions.

Penn St.-Harrisburg (13-21, 8-8 NEAC South) ended the second game early when it scored twice in the sixth inning to get to the eight-run mercy margin. The Nittany Lions scored five times in the third and twice in the fourth and sixth innings in the victory.

GU scored its only run of the day in the top of the fourth inning when junior Rachel Sweigart (Big Rock, Ill.) led off with a double and moved up a base on back-to-back groundouts. Freshman Olivia Stein (Tucson, Ariz.) drove Sweigart on her grounder to second base.

The Bison will wrap-up the 2013 season next weekend at home as GU welcomes St. Elizabeth (Saturday, April 27) and Penn St.-Abington (Sunday, April 28) for two conference doubleheaders.
