Box Score 2 ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team was perfect on Saturday as it traveled to Pennsylvania for two non-conferences matches against University of Scranton and Lebanon Valley College. The Bison defeated both teams in four sets each at the annual Tri-Match held in Annville, Pa.
The Bison (21-13, 9-1 NEAC), who went into competition with only seven eligible players, defeated the University of Scranton Royals (11-23) in four sets (25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-15). Gallaudet turned around and beat the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen (28-6) three sets to one. Despite a shallow bench, the Bison were able to secure the win after falling short in the third set (25-23, 25-8, 14-25, 25-17).
Freshman outside hitter Jasmine Jeter (Noblesville, Ind.) had a standout match against the University of Scranton as she recorded the Bison's only double-double of the day with 13 kills and 11 digs in the victory. Sophomore Molly Perkins (Apple Valley, Minn.) and senior opposite hitter Lane Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.) combined for seven service aces in the win.
The Dutchmen did not have an answer for the Gallaudet attack led by junior Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) who recorded a team-high 20 kills. Peters had 15 of her 30 kills in the match. Sophomore setter TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) dished out 41 assists in the match. She finished with 77 on the day. Sophomore libero Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) and junior middle hitter Julia Wolff (Belleville, Ontario) contributed to the Bison defense with 24 digs and four blocks (two solo), respectively.
The Tri-Match concludes the regular-season schedule for Gallaudet. The Bison enter the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championships as the No. 1 seed. Championship play begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Field House.
