Box Score WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University dropped a 3-1 women's volleyball decision Wednesday night against Catholic University of America at the DuFour Center. The Bison (18-13) tied the match in the second set before falling to the Cardinals 23-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-25.
Senior Lane Peters (Phoenix, Ariz.), the reigning North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week, led the Bison with 14 kills, eight digs, three block assists and two service aces. Junior Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 28 digs. Sophomore libero Kate Fetzer (Noblesville, Ind.) led the team with 33 digs while fellow sophomore setter TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) passed out 42 assists and served up four aces to go with 13 digs. GU had 10 service aces in the loss.
Catholic (16-13) was paced by Kalen Backe (25 digs) and Mary Paige Nesfeder (nine digs) who recorded 13 kills each. Mariana Cruz dished out 32 assists and made 19 digs to earn a double-double.
The Bison will host Hood College on Friday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. in the Field House to kick-off Homecoming weekend.
