Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Wells College made 10 three-pointers to sink Gallaudet University on Sunday 78-64 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men's basketball game at the Field House. The Bison led in many offensive statistical categories including shooting percentage from the field, free throw percentage and rebounds but a big difference came from behind the arc where the Express made 34.5 percent from three-point range (10-for-29) while the Bison made 3 of 11 shots from long distance.
Gallaudet (7-8, 5-2 NEAC South Division) suffered its second straight conference loss while Wells (5-10, 2-3 NEAC North Division) snapped a six-game losing streak.
Senior guard Brandon McMillan (Frederick, Md.) led Gallaudet with a game-high 18 points; he scored 11 of those points in the first half as he made 4 of 5 shots from the field. Fellow senior guard Tony Tatum (Gardendale, Ala.) chipped in 16 points and five rebounds while senior forward Layton Seeber (Champaign, Ill.) netted 12 points and 10 rebounds to notch his first double-double of the season. Junior forward Danny Kelly (Strongsville) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and five assists to go with eight points.
The Express, who led 45-32 at halftime, had four different players finish the game with double figure point totals including forward Terry Harrison, who recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds to go with four steals. Guard Dave Flotz had a team-high 15 points while EJ Taylor added 14 points and forward Andre Sawyers had 10 points and eight boards.
GU held a 38-37 advantage in rebounds and outscored Wells 34-32 in the paint while the Express turned 21 GU turnovers into 31 points. The Express bench outscored Gallaudet's 17-4.
Gallaudet continues its four-game homestand on Wednesday, Jan. 18, against Penn St.-Harrisburg as the NEAC contest tips at 5 p.m.
