Bison hang tight against defending NEAC champions

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) champions were being pushed to the limit by Gallaudet University on Saturday before the Keuka College women's basketball team pulled away from the Bison to secure the 55-39 win at the Field House.

Gallaudet (3-9, 1-5 NEAC South), never led in the game, kept the Storm lead to single digits for the majority of the game and even had it down to a point or two several times in the game. Keuka pulled away midway through the second half as the Storm outscored the Bison 31-23.

Sophomore guard Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) made 3-of-5 shots from the field in the first half as she led all-scorers with 10 points through the first 20 minutes of play as GU only trailed 24-16 at the intermission. Latham finished with a game-high 23 points as she made three three-pointers and 6-of-13 shots from the field for the Bison.

Keuka rotated through eight different players in the game as the Storm ran into foul trouble in the second half. Sophomore guard Danielle Gravel led Keuka with 17 points while junior forward Mariah Mouzon tallied 10 points and nine rebounds. The Storm outscored the Bison 14-12 in the paint as GU's top two forwards combined to shoot 0 for 15 from the field. Keuka scored 20 points off the 24 turnovers committed by the Bison.

Gallaudet will try and bounce back tomorrow (Sunday, Jan. 15) at home against NEAC foe Wells College at 2 p.m.
