Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Gallaudet University jumped out to a quick lead on the road against McDaniel College in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Thursday evening en route to a 3-0 shutout. The Bison led 9-0 early in the first set and didn't look back as they won 25-7, 25-14, 25-10.
Gallaudet (10-5) was led offensively by freshman Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) who knocked down 12 kills to lead the Bison. Junior Mari Klassen (White Rock, British Columbia) served up a team-high six service aces and made a team-high eight digs. Freshman setter Sarah Tubert (Burbank, Calif.) passed out 27 assists, matched Klassen with six service aces, recorded four kills and two blocks. Junior outside hitter Ann Whited (Fishers, Ind.) tallied seven kills, five digs and two service aces.
This is the second time Gallaudet and McDaniel (0-13) have met this season as the two teams competed in the Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg, Pa., back on September 3. GU won that match 3-0 (25-6, 25-6, 25-9).
The Bison will travel to Reading, Pa., this weekend for a key North Eastern Athletic Conference South Division showdown. GU will begin play on Saturday, October 1, against St. Elizabeth at 1 p.m. followed by a match against Lancaster Bible slated for 3 p.m.
