VERO BEACH, Fla. –
The Gallaudet University baseball team dropped its second Spring
Break game on Tuesday at Holmann Stadium in Dodgertown as the Bison
lost 15-3 in eight innings to Daniel Webster College. Dodgertown is
the old spring training facility for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who
now train in Glendale, Ariz.
Gallaudet
(0-9) fell behind early 5-0 after three innings. The Bison cut the
lead to two, 5-3, as they plated three in the bottom half of the
fourth inning. Catcher Steven Gosselin (Hayward,
Calif.) had a two-run single to help spark the Bison offense.
Sophomore Jeremy Shepps (Mechanicsburg, Pa.)
contributed two hits, one double, scored one run and drove in one
run.
Sophomore
pitcher Ryan Hastings (Cherry Valley, Mass.)
suffered the loss as he went seven innings where he allowed nine
runs (three earned) on 12 hits. Hastings walked four and struck out
four DWC batters.
Daniel
Webster (2-4) was led by first baseman Adam Southwell (2-for-3) as
he scored two runs and knocked in two runs. Shortstop Rich Lizotte
drove in three runs and scored a run. Nick Michaud earned the win
as he went six plus innings where he allowed three runs on five
hits, walked three and struck out two.
Gallaudet
will play its final Spring Break game on Thursday against Vassar at
10:30 a.m. The Bison will return home and host Capital Athletic
Conference foe St. Mary's (Md.) College on Saturday in a
doubleheader that begins at 2 p.m.
