Box Score SALISBURY, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's
basketball team suffered its eighth straight Capital Athletic
Conference loss on Wednesday evening at the Maggs Center as the
Bison lost 64-50 to Salisbury University before a crowd of 410.
Gallaudet (4-13, 0-11 CAC) had three players reach double
figures in the loss as sophomore guard Tony Tatum
(Birmingham, Ala.) led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds,
three steals and one block. Tatum's point total is the highest
since a 16-point game against York (Pa.) College back on December
9, 2009. Freshman forward Danny Kelly
(Strongsville, Ohio) scored 10 of his 11 points in the first half
and grabbed five rebounds while senior guard Johnny
Jackson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) scored 10 points. This is the
14th game this season that Jackson has reached double figures.
Salisbury (11-8, 7-4 CAC) led wire-to-wire en route to its fifth
straight win. Gallaudet cut the Salisbury lead to two, 25-23, with
1:36 left before halftime. Sea Gull forward Mike Maczko drained two
three-pointers in the final minute to send SU into the break up
eight, 31-23.
The Sea Gulls started the second half on a 12-0 run which
eventually grew to 20-4 with 11:31 left to play. SU's Greg Palmer
led the way with 17 points and five rebounds. The Sea Gulls
outrebounded the Bison 36-27.
Gallaudet scored 21 points off 21 Salisbury turnovers. The Bison
shot 39.6 percent from the field and made 71.4 percent of their
free throw attempts.
This is the final CAC regular-season meeting between the two
schools as Gallaudet is leaving for the North Eastern Athletic
Conference next year.
Gallaudet is slated to travel to Frederick, Md., this Saturday,
February 6, to play Hood College at Fort Detrick at 6 p.m. in
another CAC game, weather permitting.
