half. Christendom, members of the United States Collegiate Athletic
Association, relinquished the lead for good in the waning seconds
of the half after six ties in the game. Jackson made a lay-up with
six seconds left before the break to give GU a 33-31 lead. The
Crusaders turned the ball over as freshman guard Nicholas
Elstad (Colorado Springs, Colo.) came up with the steal
and kicked it to sophomore guard Kevin Berrigan
(Frederick, Md.) who launched a three-pointer as the buzzer
sounded. Berrigan's shot found the bottom of the net as the Bison
led 36-31 at halftime.
Gallaudet broke open the game in the first few minutes of the
second half as the Bison outscored the Crusaders 15-4 in a
three-minute stretch to increase their lead to 17, 55-38, on a
Kelly basket. The highlight of the second half was an alley-oop
dunk made by sophomore Tony Tatum (Birmingham,
Ala.) off an inbound pass by fellow sophomore Brandon
McMillan (Frederick, Md.) at the 16-minute mark.
Christendom was led by 6-foot-7 sophomore forward Bryan Fox as
he scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and made two blocks.
