Washington, D.C. - Under a gorgeous April sky, the Gallaudet University Bison hosted The Captains from Christopher Newport University on Thursday afternoon. Freshmen Johnny Bingham (Mullica Hill, New Jersey/Model Secondary School for the Deaf) took the mound for his second start of the season after showing signs of improvement during his previous outings. Bingham started slowly, giving up 4 runs in the first, while struggling with his command. Bingham then settled down, giving up only 2 more runs in his final 3.2 innings of work and striking out three.
After finding more trouble in the sixth, manager Curtis Pride took Bingham down in favor of right hander John Moore, Jr. (Frederick, Maryland/Maryland School f/t Deaf). Moore would complete the game for the Bison, pitching 4.2 innings and striking out four.
The loss brings the Bison to 2-23-1 on the season. They will host Valley Forge on Monday at 3:30.
