Washington D.C. - The Gallaudet baseball squad has made it
back to back wins for the first time in the 2009 campaign by
beating Baptist Bible 5-4 Friday afernoon. Manager Curtis
Pride gave the ball to Ryan Hastings (Cherry Valley,
Massachusetts/MSSD) who put in a work man like effort to pick
up the win. Hastings's day finished after 7 strong
innings. He started the 8th inning but gave way to teammate
Josh Shepps (Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania/Cumberland
Valley) after he ran into trouble. With Baptist Bible
threatening, Shepps shut the door and kept the Bison on top.
In the ninth inning, he was helped by great defense from teammate
Zane Nochese (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania/Western Pennsylvania School
f/t Deaf), who turned in a web gem to get an big out. Shepps
then struck out the last batter to preserve the Gallaudet victory.
The Bison travel to Williamson Trade for a double header on
Tuesday with hopes of continuing their winning streak.
