Washington, DC.- The Bison broke their 16
game losing streak as they defeated Valley Forge Christian College
4-3.
Going into the final stretch of games the
Gallaudet University Bison knew they had a great chance to close
the season on an upbeat note. The frustrating and
heartbreaking conference schedule has mercifully come to an end,
and the Bison finish the season against
five non-conference opponents. Valley Forge
represented an opportunity Monday afternoon, and the Bison took it,
beating the Patriots 4-3 in a game that turned close in the
final innings. Jeremy Shepps, in the midst of a stellar
freshman campaign, took the mound for the Bison. With the help of
strong defense by his teammates, Shepps put in a complete game, 8
strikeout performance to get the win.
Offensively, the Bison did
just enough damage and broke out the bats long enough to hold the
lead throughout the game. Timely hitting by John Moore Jr. aided
Shepps on the mound, and gave the Bison their third win of the
year. Moore finished the game going 2 for 4 with an
rbi. The Bison are back in action Friday when they will host
Baptist Christian (PA) at 3:00 pm.
