Finishing off a season in which they doubled their win total from last season, Gallaudet finished a successful 2008-09 campaign against the nation's seventh-ranked team, York College, which entered today's game 22-1. The final score was 81-53.

Nukeitra Hayes ended her brilliant sophomore season with 22 points, 6 rebounds, two blocks, and three steals. Brittainy Payne had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.  Ursa Rewolinski was limited to 23 minutes due to foul trouble, but still grabbed 9 rebounds.

After the game, Gallaudet Head Coach Kevin Cook reflected on the game and season.  "Even though the score does not indicate it, we battled with the nation's 7th ranked team. Most of the stat lines were close and we only had 17 turnovers (to York's 14.  The area where we got hurt today was 3-point shooting!  York made 9, and we only attempted 7! What is amazing is their threes came from 5 different players."  Coach Cook is already looking towards the start of next season, which is just 8 months away.  "We need to commit to being better shooters.  Next season begins tomorrow.  I hope our players will commit to shooting.  Three teams from our conference will be in the NCAA Tournament. That shows how tough our league is.  We improved in many areas from last season and will improve even more next year!
