Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Gallaudet University men's
basketball coach Jeb Barber recorded his biggest
margin of victory on Monday night as the Bison won 100-59 against
non-conference foe Christendom College before 425 at the Field
House. Coach Barber went to his bench early and often against the
Crusaders as all 12 players for GU scored points and logged an
average of 17 minutes apiece.
Gallaudet (1-2) earned its first win of the season as the Bison
scored 45 points off 36 turnovers committed by Christendom (2-6).
The Bison were also strong inside as they grabbed 43 rebounds and
netted 54 points in the paint. GU's bench outscored Christendom's
bench by 13 points (35-22). This is the first time Gallaudet has
scored 100 points since a 103-74 victory against Johnson Bible last
season on December 15, 2008. The 41-point margin of victory is the
largest since a 46-point win over Juniata College, 77-31, back on
January 8, 2007.
Bison had five players reach double figures led by sophomore
guard Tony Tatum (Birmingham, Ala.) who scored a
team-high 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds, made four steals and
passed out two assists in 28 minutes of action. Senior guard
Johnny Jackson (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) netted 16
points, made six steals and five assists. Freshman Jocus
Houston (Baton Rouge, La.) came off the bench to score 14
points thanks to 3-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Starting
guards Bobby Siebert (St. Paul, Minn.) and
Kevin Berrigan (Frederick, Md.) scored 11 and 10
points, respectively. Starting guard Brandon
McMillan (Frederick, Md.) scored seven points and made
three steals to go with five rebounds. GU's bench saw Danny
Gabel (Staten Island, N.Y.), Daniel Fava
(Baltimore, Md.), Nicholas Elstad (Colorado
Springs, Colo.), Brandon Williams (Jacksonville,
Ark.), Joshua Sisco (Spartanburg, S.C.) and
Darious Flowers (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) logged valuable
minutes and contributed in the victory. The last Bison that hadn't
scored in the game was Williams but he got his name in the box
score with a jumper with 44 seconds left in the game.
Christendom was paced by center Bryan Fox who netted a game-high
23 points while Matt Lancaster and Matt Rensch added 13 and 10
points, respectively.
GU led 45-35 at the half and outscored Christendom 55-24 in the
second half.
The Bison will next host its annual Holiday Tournament on
Saturday when GU welcomes Penn State-York for a 4 p.m.
