18th Ranked York Defeats Gallaudet

Box Score

York College brought their #18 national ranking and 14 game winning streak to the Gallaudet Field House tonight, defeating Gallaudet 82-41. Displaying a balanced line-up that saw 5 players score between 11 and 16 points tonight, York shot 48% from the field.

Gallaudet played hard throughout the game, but was not able to match York's size, speed, and passing skills.  Amanda Kreiger led all Bison scorers with 12 points. Nukeitra Hayes scored 9 points while often being doubled and triple teamed every time she touched the ball. Hayes also grabbed 17 rebounds.

Gallaudet had one of their best free throw shooting games of the season, making 13-17, good for 76.5%. Despite the size advantage for York, Gallaudet was able to get 37 rebounds, including 11 offensive, versus 39 for York.

After the game, Gallaudet Head Coach Kevin Cook praised the York team.  "I want to give credit to York. Their six seniors have been very committed, they play together, and play smart." Coach Cook also had a message for his team.  "Tonight, the turnover bug reared it's ugly head and nationally ranked teams do not need any extra help and they feasted on our mental errors. We have a lot of season left and we will continue to strive to improve."

Gallaudet is 4-11. York is 15-1.  Gallaudet's next women's game will be Monday, January 26 at Christendom College at 6 pm. The next women's home game will be Wednesday, January 28 vs. Marymount at 6 pm.
