Box Score York College brought their #18 national ranking and 14 game
winning streak to the Gallaudet Field House tonight, defeating
Gallaudet 82-41. Displaying a balanced line-up that saw 5 players
score between 11 and 16 points tonight, York shot 48% from the
field.
Gallaudet played hard throughout the game, but was not able to
match York's size, speed, and passing skills. Amanda Kreiger led
all Bison scorers with 12 points. Nukeitra Hayes scored
9 points while often being doubled and triple teamed every time she
touched the ball. Hayes also grabbed 17 rebounds.
Gallaudet had one of their best free throw shooting games of the
season, making 13-17, good for 76.5%. Despite the size advantage
for York, Gallaudet was able to get 37 rebounds, including 11
offensive, versus 39 for York.
After the game, Gallaudet
Head Coach Kevin Cook praised the York team. "I want to
give credit to York. Their six seniors have been very committed,
they play together, and play smart." Coach Cook also had a message
for his team. "Tonight, the turnover bug reared it's ugly
head and nationally ranked teams do not need any extra help and
they feasted on our mental errors. We have a lot of season left and
we will continue to strive to improve."
Gallaudet is 4-11. York is 15-1. Gallaudet's next women's
game will be Monday, January 26 at Christendom College at 6 pm. The
next women's home game will be Wednesday, January 28 vs. Marymount
at 6 pm.
