WASHINGTON, D.C.--Gallaudet's Kevin Alley led the home
team in a 3-for-4 outing over two games as the Bison dropped a
twinbill to Valley Forge College in 9-5, 3-2 decisions.
Alley had two RBI and scored twice in the doubleheader. Senior
pitcher Ryan Lentz
pitched a complete game one, striking out four in seven innings of
work. Alley got the ball in game two, fanning three over seven
innings.
The Bison had 12 hits over the games next to Valley Forge's 15.
In game one, Gallaudet jumped out in front 2-1 after the first
inning off hits from Alley and Lentz. Alley's hit advanced Adrian DeHoyos to
third, who subsequently scored off a wild pitch. Lentz brought
Alley home.
The Buff and Blue would not score again until the fifth, when
Alley stepped up and hit a triple, bringing DeHoyos and Zane Noschese home. The
final score for Gallaudet came in the sixth off a Warren Keller score
when he took advantage of a sacrifice play by Christian Deaton.
Deaton stole second and was picked off, but Keller beat the throw
home to get the run in.
Game two opened with a 1-1 tie after the first inning. DeHoyos
scored the first run for Gallaudet when Lentz reached on a
fielder's choice. The Bison tacked on another run in the fourth off
a Lentz RBI single that brought Alley home.
Gallaudet would have an opportunity in the sixth to tie or take
the game when DeHoyos and Keller got on base but the opportunity
was missed when DeHoyos was cut off advancing to second, Alley
grounded out and Lentz struck out.
The Bison (1-20, 0-15 CAC) travel to St. Mary's College of
Maryland on Wednesday, April 9 in the penultimate conference
matchup. The first pitch goes at 4 p.m.
