WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Bison men took the second game of a
CAC regular season finale at home against CAC top-ranked York
College. The Spartans came out on top, 115-69.
Prior to tip-off, senior veteran forward Onye Davis and senior
guard Lee Jones were honored in a tribute to their hard work on and
off the court.
Junior guard Jon Mowl was also recognized for joining the
1,000-point club. He went into the St. Mary's game on
Saturday February 16 at 998, and his 18-point night gave him a
career total of 1,016.
Right from the opening tip, both teams were neck and neck up until
near the end of the first half when York put together a scoring
rally off perimeter shots and visits to the charity stripe. The
Spartans extended their lead to 31 points at the half, 65-34.
The Spartans shot 55% in the second half as the Bison worked on
containing the bigger visitors. Gallaudet reduced the scoring
margin from 65 in the first half to 47 in the second, and produced
35 points as well. The Bison defense limited the Spartans to just
three long-range shots, compared with 10 in the first half.
Guard Johnny Jackson topped the Buff and Blue scoring effort
with 18 points on 8-for-9 shooting. Both Jon Mowl and Onye Davis
had 14 points for the Bison, with Mowl also dishing out five
assists. Davis was perfect from the charity stripe with a 6-for-6
posting. Lee Jones contributed 8 points in his final game as a
Bison, including two long-range shots.
