Over 2,000 fans witnessed the first ever night football game at
Hotchkiss Field, and the final home game of the team's seniors, and
they witnessed the best game the Bison played all year, as
Gallaudet defeated Williamson Trade, 40-6.
Six different players scored one touchdown apiece for Gallaudet
in a balanced scoring effort. Gallaudet scored a touchdown in every
quarter of the game. The first score in the first quarter
came on a 13 yard run by Scott Lehmann.
In the second quarter Derrick Williams
caught a 28 yard pass from Fletch Kuehne and Dmitry
Rossoshansky ran for a 21 yard touchdown. In the third
quarter, Michael
Gimeli scored on the first play from scrimmage of the second
half, on a 66 yard scamper down the right sideline. Kevin Alley caught a 49
yard pass from Kuehne later in the quarter. In the fourth
quarter, Travis
Oshman caught an 18 yard touchdown pass from Kuehne.
For the game, Gallaudet rushed for 332 yards, and held
Williamson Trade to just 73 yards. Gallaudet averaged 7.2 yards a
carry as the offensive lines opened holes for the running backs all
game long. Thanks to the efforts of the offensive line, Gallaudet
punted just twice in the game. Lehmann led Gallaudet with 105 yards
rushing, and Kuehne added 102.
The Gallaudet defense had 3 interceptions and 3 sacks. Michael Hollran
and Adam Tygart
led the defense with 6 tackles. Tygart also had one interception
return. Martin
Blomquist and Jared Vollmer also
had an interception.
With the win, Gallaudet goes to 2-7 on the season. The win
is the first for the team under the new lights and artificial turf
of Hotchkiss Field. Next week, Gallaudet will travel to Wesley College
for their final game of the season, November 15 at 2 pm.
