Gallaudet Football Beats Becker 26-18

Leicester, Mass - Freshman running back Scott Lehmann (Frederick, MD) ran for a game high 156 yards and scored four touchdowns as Gallaudet defeated Becker College 26-18. The Bison picked up their first win of the season to improve to 1-3.

The Hawks received the ball first and ran ten consecutive plays to bring the ball to the Gallaudet 29 yard line. Gallaudet then stopped the Hawks and forced a fourth down which they didn't allow the Hawks to convert. The Bison's first play from scrimmage was a Fletch Kuehne (Austin, TX) 52 yard pass to wide receiver Kevin Alley (Lebanon/Salem, OR) to the Becker 14 yard line. Lehmann scored four plays later on a 3 yard rush. A Justin Wilson (Phoenix, AZ) extra point made the game 7-0 Gallaudet at the 6 minute mark of the first quarter.

The Hawks broke thru the Gallaudet defense on their third possession of the game. Acie Johnson (Lynn, MA) scampered 22 yards to the end zone after a short reception from quarterback Karrone Stanley (West Haven, CT). The extra point failed and the Hawks trailed 7-6.

The Hawks fourth drive started at their own 28 yard line. On third and 16 Stanley hit Johnson on the right hash mark and Acie bolted across the middle down to the Gallaudet nine yard line for a 69 yard play. After the teams traded penalties Jacques Phillippe (Randolph, MA) broke the goal line with a four yard rush. The two point conversion failed and the Hawks held a slim 12-7 lead at the half.

The Bison received the ball to start the third quarter. On 3rd and five Kuehne completed a pass 18 yards to Alley to the Becker 42 yard line. Three plays later Scott Lehmann scored his second touchdown with a 33 yard rush. The extra point by kicker Wilson was good and Gallaudet took the lead 14-12 for good.

Gallaudet made it 20-12 on the first play of the fourth quarter when Lehmann scored from a yard out.

Becker couldn't get a drive going, fumbling on their next possession and then having to punt without getting a first down. Gallaudet's next drive started at the 10 minute mark of the fourth quarter. They continued to rush the ball to take some time off the clock. Lehmann scored his fourth touchdown with a 3 yard run to the end zone. The extra point was blocked by Becker to make it a 26-12 game.

Wide Receiver Jacques Faublas (Canton, MA) made it a close game with a 6 yard reception from Stanley to make the final 26-18.
