WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Cardinals fought off a
Bison rally in the fourth and fifth innings when Bison
catcher Ryan Lentz doubled, bringing centerfielder Kevin
Alley home in the fourth, along with a Justin Wilson single,
bringing first baseman William Jacobs home to edge the Cardinal
lead, 3-2.
The
Bison then held the Cardinals scoreless for two innings until
Joseph Maca doubled, bringing two Cardinal runs in, making the
score 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth.
Over
the seventh, Mike Michalski sent pitcher Jeremy Dolan's ball past
the left field fence for a three-run homer, distancing the
Cardinals for good and ending the scoring at 8-2.
Jon
Berscheit leads the Bison bats with a .375 average, or 15 hits in
40 at-bats. Ryan Lentz (p/c/2B/ss) has a .339 BA with 21 hits in 62
at-bats over 19 games.
March's Athlete of the Month Kevin Alley
continues his stellar defense with a team-high 72 put-outs from
centerfield. Alley also is batting .333 (24 hits in 72 at-bats,
over 21 games) and has 17 stolen bases (in 17 attempts).
Jeremy Dolan and Justin Wilson round out the
batting leaders with a .313 average, putting up 20 hits over 64
at-bats in 21 games; Wilson has a .303 average with 20 hits in 66
at-bats. Wilson also is second on the team in stolen bases, with
11, in 11 attempts.
The
Bison (4-17, 0-9 CAC) face the Cardinals again on Saturday, April
14 in a home matchup. The first pitch will be thrown at
noon.
