WASHINGTON, D.C.--Today's game was a re-schedule of the original
March 8 game date. The Bison bats worked together for most of
the game, garnering 14 hits to Lancaster's 12. However, the
fielding set up errors that allowed Lancaster to produce a six-run
8th inning to break away from the Bison after they tied the game at
6 apiece, after being down 6-2 for six innings, off balks from
Charger pitcher Andrew Riedy.
In addition to the fielding miscues, the Bison's relative youth
still stood out in their pitching staff, with key pitches going for
hits rather than strikes or put-outs. Despite this, starter
Ryan Lentz fanned five Chargers in seven innings, and reliever
Jeremy Dolan retired four batters out of the seven (in two innings)
he faced, after catching seven innings for Lentz.
Centerfielder Kevin Alley continues to lead the Bison in
put-outs, with 38 on the season. Lentz is right behind at 35, with
the next Bison being first baseman Jonathan Chanin (26). Left
fielder Jon Berscheit (.480 BA; 12 hits in 25 at-bats) went
5-for-6 with five hits and a run scored. Eric Smithson contributed
two RBI, and four Bison had five put-outs each (ss Justin Wilson;
Chanin, Alley and c/rp Dolan).
The Bison (1-11, 0-4 CAC) prepare for a road trip to York
College to pick up on conference play on Wednesday, March 28. The
first pitch will be thrown at 3:00 pm.
