Sea Gulls hold off Bison for season sweep

SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball team continued its winning ways Saturday night with a 71-59 win over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Gallaudet University in front of alumni and fans at the Maggs Center.
The Sea Gulls (11-9, 6-5 CAC) built a 13-point lead, 41-28, at the half and held off a late second half Bison charge to win their second consecutive game.
Salisbury was led by senior Ray Williams who scored a game-high 20 points. Segun Odumeru added 17 points while sophomore Ozi Menakaya (9 points)  pulled down a game-high 19 rebounds.
The Sea Gulls jumped out to an early 10-point lead, 14-4, just six minutes into the game but Gallaudet climbed back to within six of the Sea Gulls at 16-10 with 12 minutes to play in the half. Salisbury then went on a 20-9 run over the next seven minutes to build its largest lead of the half, 17-points, at 36-19.
Salisbury opened up the second half similar to the way it began the game as it took a 23-point advantage, 57-34, with 14 minutes to play after Williams hit a pair of free-throws.
Gallaudet didn't go away quietly as it scored the next eight points to pull within 15. The Bison continued to chip away at the Sea Gull lead as Johnny Jackson hit a long range jumper followed by a two-point score to cut the lead to 12.
The Bison got as close as six points, 65-59, with four minutes to play but the Sea Gulls scored the final six points to ice the game.
Gallaudet was led by the duo of Jackson and Sekoe White who finished with 14 and 12 points each, respectively.
