SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's basketball
team continued its winning ways Saturday night with a 71-59 win
over Capital Athletic Conference opponent Gallaudet University in
front of alumni and fans at the Maggs Center.
The Sea Gulls (11-9, 6-5 CAC)
built a 13-point lead, 41-28, at the half and held off a late
second half Bison charge to win their second consecutive
game.
Salisbury was led by senior Ray
Williams who scored a game-high 20 points. Segun Odumeru added 17
points while sophomore Ozi Menakaya (9
points) pulled down a game-high 19
rebounds.
The Sea Gulls jumped out to an
early 10-point lead, 14-4, just six minutes into the game but
Gallaudet climbed back to within six of the Sea Gulls at 16-10 with
12 minutes to play in the half. Salisbury then went on a 20-9 run
over the next seven minutes to build its largest lead of the half,
17-points, at 36-19.
Salisbury opened up the second
half similar to the way it began the game as it took a 23-point
advantage, 57-34, with 14 minutes to play after Williams hit a pair
of free-throws.
Gallaudet didn't go away
quietly as it scored the next eight points to pull within 15. The
Bison continued to chip away at the Sea Gull lead as Johnny Jackson
hit a long range jumper followed by a two-point score to cut the
lead to 12.
The Bison got as close as six
points, 65-59, with four minutes to play but the Sea Gulls scored
the final six points to ice the game.
Gallaudet was led by the duo of
Jackson and Sekoe White who finished with 14 and 12 points each,
respectively.

1-10 CAC) in continuing CAC play is hosting the Goucher
College Gophers (6-14, 3-9 CAC) on Tuesday, February 6 at 8:00
