WASHINGTON, DC--The Bison re-set their Home Stand, with a win
over Hood College in conference play. The only time the Blazers
took the lead was during the second game, riding an opening
offensive rally to lead 9-3. Junior libero Shana Lehmann put
together a serving rally, ten straight points to resume the Buff
and Blue lead 10-9. From that point on, the Bison never looked back
and went to the finish line, 30-16. The third match showed some
spark as the Blazers tried to capitalize, but Gallaudet kept the
door shut and the game ended on a Blazer serving error, 30-22.
Junior middle hitter Katelyn Reese led the Bison with 12 kills,
and freshman Nukeitra Hayes had 10. Senior co-captain Krystle
Berrigan set up 44 assists, while libero Shana Lehmann had 15 digs.
The Bison had 13 service aces, averaging roughly four a game. Hayes
and Reese also recorded blocks, one apiece.
The Bison improve to 12-7, 4-1 CAC. They host the Worthington
Classic, starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5 against Peace
College.
In other news, the American Volleyball Coaches Association
ranked Gallaudet's match last week against Mary Washington fourth
in the nation for fan attendance (850). See the link for more
