WASHINGTON, DC--Gallaudet needed a victory tonight to secure the
#1 ranking in the conference and go into the CAC Championship
tournament as the top seed. The Buff and Blue dispatched the Saints
of Marymount University, 3-0 (30-17, 30-22, 30-19).
The opening game saw a brief struggle as the Bison offense
worked to find its sync. This stint lasted only so long as the Buff
and Blue settled into their groove and did not let the Saints have
a lead larger than two points.
Tonight also marked the final regular-season home game for
senior co-captain Krystle Berrigan, who Coach Lynn Ray Boren dubbed
a "selfless, talented team player" that assumed the co-captaincy in
a way befitting a seasoned veteran. Berrigan had a 40-assist
night, with five kills and five digs.
Fellow co-captain Shana Lehmann had 22 digs, two service aces.
Hitter Katelyn Reese topped the offensive output with 12 kills,
three service aces and three block assists. Justine Jeter and
Nukeitra Hayes each added 9 kills with Ludmila Mounty-Weinstock,
Brittany Ellenbecker and Amanda Krieger each posting five.
Gallaudet has won seven straight home matches.
The Bison (23-9, 7-1 CAC) will participate in the Lebanon Valley
Tri-Meet on Saturday before beginning the first round of the
tournament at The Field House on Tuesday night. Click here
