York, PA (12/6/06) In a visit to the Grumbacher Sport &
Fitness Center, the Bison jumped ahead on an early lead, 7-6. The
Spartans then took the game to the next level on a 17-3 run, to sit
on top 27-10 at the 13:04 mark. After a Mowl trey that
reduced the Spartan lead to nine at 26-17, the Spartans forged
ahead to finish the half 51-21.
During the second half, a rejuvenated Bison offense woke up the
sluggish Spartan defense, keeping the home team on its toes.
The Buff and Blue outscored the Spartans 58-45 behind Jonathan
Valencia's team-high 22 points and 3 assists. The
valiant Bison charge came up short as the Spartans finished the
game, 96-79.
Junior Sekoe White capped a 18-point night with 6 dishes, a block
and three steals. Sophomore Jon Mowl followed suit with 17
points, 5 assists and three steals, while speedster Johnny Jackson
tacked on 10 points off a 2-3 night from downtown. Both White
and Jackson led the Bison Boards with five apiece.
The Bison host Salisbury State University Saturday, December 9
in conjunction with the 11th annual Alumni Basketball
Madness. The ball goes up at 4 pm.
