Bean is in his 12th season on the Bison football coaching staff. Bean is GU's recruiting coordinator for the athletics department. He previously served as a graduate assistant for two years (2014-16) and as a student intern for one season (2013) with the football team and worked with the defensive backs.

Bean played four seasons for the Bison from 2009-12. His senior season he landed on the 2012 All-ECFC First Team Defense after he recorded 58 tackles (44 solo), made four interceptions for 61 yards, broke up eight passes and forced three fumbles. The year prior he earned All-ECFC Honorable Mention honors as a punter as he made 42 punts for 1,446 yards (34.4 average) with a season long of 47 yards and 10 punts that landed inside the 20-yard line with seven fair catches and two touchbacks.

Bean is married to Katherine Giles Bean, Associate Athletic Director for Student Success and SAAC Advisor. The couple, who were married on Hotchkiss Field, live in Washington, D.C., with their son.
