Davis completed his seventh season with the Gallaudet Universityfootball program in 2014 and his sixth as Assistant Head FootballCoach/Defensive Coordinator. On June 24, 2011, Davis was alsopromoted to Admissions Liaison for the AthleticsDepartment.
Under Davis, the Bison defense has been among the nation’sbest in multiple categories.
In 2013, the Bison finished the season No. 9 in Division III intotal defense (264.5 yards per game) and tops in the conference asGU won its first Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC)championship and made an appearance in the NCAA tournament. GU wasalso No. 3 in the nation for passing yards per completion(18.44).
In 2012, the Bison ranked 14th in the nation with 3.2 sacks pergame, 15th in tackles for a loss with 8.5 per game and 20th inturnovers in Division III with 29. The 2011 Bison ranked second inthe nation in tackles for a loss (10.2 per game), 10th in sacks(3.3 per game), 11th in red zone defense (59%), 18th in totalturnovers (30) and 26th in rushing defense (104.9 yards allowed pergame). In the 2010 season, the Bison led the nation in red zonedefense with 52% and ranked 39th in 3rd down conversions with31.73%. In 2009, his first as the defensive coordinator, the Bisonfinished the season ranked No. 6 in the nation for total defense asthe Bison only allowed 245.30 yards per game. Gallaudet's passdefense was ranked No. 4 among NCAA Division III teams as the Buffand Blue limited opponents to 109.10 yards per game. The Gallaudetdefense was also nationally ranked for pass efficiency defense (No.29) and scoring defense (No. 30).
Davis has coached multiple All-ECFC defensive players (35)including a 2012 team that boasted five first-team All-ECFChonorees. Among these players were 4-time first team All-ECFClinebacker Tom Pangia and ECFC Defensive Player of the Year andthird team D3football.com All-American Tony Tatum. Davis has alsocoached a Gagliardi Finalist in Adham Talaat in 2013 when he was aD3football.com All-American honorable mention and was a two-timeCoSIDA Academic All-America.
Coach Davis has been recognized on and off-campus for hisaccomplishments. Coach Davis was named to the 2012 93.9 WKYS Top 30Under 30 (most influential professional minorities in DC/MD/VAunder 30) he was selected for the 2008 NCAA Future CoachesAcademy.
Davis served as Gallaudet's secondary coach in 2008 then waspromoted to defensive coordinator for the 2009 season and then onDec. 17, 2009, he was promoted to Assistant Head FootballCoach.
The Lynchburg, Va., native is a proud graduate from LibertyUniversity where he lettered in football. The scholarship playercompleted three seasons with the Flames. Davis played high schoolfootball at E.C. Glass High School under the tutelage of CoachWayne Lance, who currently coaches at Atlantic Shores High Schoolin Virginia Beach, Va. At E.C. Glass, Davis was named a prep-starAll-American and earned All-Region and All-District honors as adefensive back.
Davis and his wife Octavia have three children Alana, Myles andGavin who currently reside in Virginia.
