Coach Ed Hottle enters his fifth season at the helm of theGallaudet University football program. In five seasons, Hottle hasaccumulated a 22-16 record with the Bison. He also serves as theAssistant Athletic Director at GU where the athletics program hasexperienced tremendous growth during his tenure.

Coach Hottle is committed to academics and it shows in hisstudent-athletes' academic performances. Each year the Bison haveraised their team grade point average.

Hottle and the Bison experienced the best season in schoolhistory in 2005 when the Buff and Blue posted a 9-0 record, whichranks fourth all-time in school history for wins in a season.

In 2007, Hottle led Gallaudet back into NCAA Division III statusas the team posted a 4-6 record with the toughest schedule in over15 years. GU defeated two Division III teams, the first-time theBison won a game as a Division III school since 1991. That sameseason Hottle served as the defensive coordinator and had twoplayers rank nationally in various defensive categories. SafetyRantz Teeter was sixth in the nation in interceptions while RobinShannon finished ninth nationally in tackles for a loss and 10th insacks. That marked the first-time in school history two playerswere ranked in the Top 10 of the NCAA statistics during the sameseason.

With Coach Hottle at the helm, Gallaudet has been featured onvarious national television media outlets including ESPN, TheWashington Post and magazine features including "Sound and Fury"and "A Show of Hands". Coach Hottle also consulted with ESPN's SalPalantonio on the book "How Football Explains America."

Prior to arriving at Gallaudet, Hottle was the head coach atCalvert High School in Prince Frederick, Md. In 2002, Hottle wasthe linebackers/defensive line coach at Division III powerhouseWesley College in Dover, Del., where he worked under highlyrespected Head Coach Mike Drass. The year before Hottle spent the'01 season in Granville, Ohio, where he worked at DenisonUniversity as the defensive coordinator/head strength andconditioning coach for the Big Red.

Coach Hottle is a proud graduate of Frostburg State Universitywhere he earned a bachelors degree in Physical Education in 1999and a master's degree in Education in 2001. While at FSU, Hottleworked his way up from football intern to defensive line coach withthe Bobcats (1999-2000).

Coach Hottle and his wife Ashley reside in Lothian, Md., andhave three children Madalynn, Wyatt and Cole.
