Chuck Goldstein became Gallaudet University's 36th head football coach in the program's 116-year history on December 17, 2009. The 2024 season will be his 14th season as the head coach and the 15th with the program.

Goldstein was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance in January 2016 after previously serving as the department's Compliance Coordinator for three and a half years.

Goldstein helped to position Gallaudet football to become primetime national media fixtures during the 2023 season as GU worked with AT&T on the AT&T 5G Network Football Helmet. The two-plus year project came to fruition on October 7, 2023, when the Bison hosted Hilbert College and used the first heads up device in a collegiate football game. Gallaudet won the game 34-20 and made national news in the process. A nationwide AT&T commercial featured the new AT&T 5G Network Helmet and Gallaudet University football during the collegiate football season as the commercial and helmet made over 4.5 billion impressions worldwide. Gallaudet finished the 2023 season with a share of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) regular-season championship with a 3-1 conference record. The Bison finished 4-5 overall. The amount of media attention the Bison received in 2023 surpassed the amount of national attention the program got a decade ago during the 2013 season.

In 2022, Gallaudet won the ECFC championship with a 5-1 record and made a return trip to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time since 2013. This GU team is only the second men’s team from Gallaudet to make the NCAA tournament. Gallaudet lost in the first round to nationally ranked Delaware Valley as they finished the campaign with a 7-3 record. Gallaudet earned a program best six D3football.com All-Region honorees. Coach Goldstein was named the D3football.com Region 1 Coach of the Year. The team earned 15 All-ECFC honors and nearly swept every major award as the Bison picked up the ECFC Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams, Rookie, Coach, and Assistant Coach of the Year awards.

Goldstein led Gallaudet to a historic season in 2013 as the Bison won their first nine games, the best start to a season in school history, en route to capturing the first Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) championship. The Bison finished the year 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the conference. GU clinched its first NCAA tournament appearance and the football team became the first GU male team sport to make a NCAA tournament appearance. Goldstein was named the 2013 ECFC Coach of the Year by his peers as Gallaudet placed 11 players on the all-conference team. Gallaudet was ranked No. 25 on Nov. 11, the first national ranking in school history. Along the way the Bison received unprecedented national media exposure as there were over 60 stories written, broadcasted, printed and posted about the Bison including stories done on ESPN, CBS Evening News, The Associated Press, Washington Post and all of the local D.C. television stations.

Goldstein took Gallaudet to unprecedented heights in 2012, posting a Gallaudet record for varsity wins finishing 7-3, placing them third in the ECFC. Landmark wins over crosstown rival Catholic University of America and eventual conference champion Mount Ida College highlighted the 2012 campaign. GU placed 13 players on the all-conference team bringing his three-season total to 36 players (16 first team selections). Bison defensive back Tony Tatum was named the ECFC Defensive Player of the Year and Special Teams Player of the Year, while quarterback Todd Bonheyo was named league Rookie of the Year making it the fourth consecutive year a Bison has won the award. Gallaudet also saw its rushing attack rank No. 9 in the nation averaging 272.8 yards per game while averaging 32 points per game a six-year program high. GU led the conference in third down offense, kick return yards, punt return yards, scoring defense and sacks. Goldstein has revitalized the recruiting efforts at Gallaudet as the GU roster is now comprised of student-athletes from 27 different states. NFL scouts have also found their way to campus, as recent success has made Gallaudet a stop for professional scouts.

The 2011 season was full of adversity and close losses for the Bison as they finished 5-5 for a second consecutive year under Goldstein. GU started the season with an overtime loss to Otterbein and a thrilling 45-41 loss to Catholic before winning five of the next six before losing the last two games of the season. Gallaudet placed 13 players on the All-ECFC teams while freshmen quarterback Quentin Williams was named ECFC Rookie of the Year. Goldstein also saw sophomore DE/OLB Matt Harris of have a prolific defensive season leading the country in sacks 15.5 and in tackles for loss 24.

The Bison posted a 5-5 overall record (3-5 vs. NCAA schools) in 2010, Goldstein’s first as a head coach, as the buff and blue went 3-2 to start the season and finished 3-4 in the ECFC (fifth overall). All five of Gallaudet's losses were determined by eight or less points. GU placed 10 players on the all-conference teams while Tatum, defensive back, was named the ECFC Rookie of the Year. Gallaudet also had five players selected to the ECFC All-Academic team.

The 2009 season was Goldstein's first season with the Bison as he served as the offensive coordinator. Gallaudet finished second in the ECFC and posted a 6-4 record. The winning mark against a complete varsity schedule was the first since 1930. Goldstein helped to implement a new offensive scheme that season as GU ran the triple-option attack. Gallaudet finished the year ranked No. 9 in the nation in rushing as the buff and blue averaged 290.8 yards per game among NCAA Division III schools.

Goldstein arrived at Gallaudet from North Point High School in Waldorf, Md. At North Point he served as the offensive coordinator from 2005-09. He also served two different stints as an assistant college football coach at Salisbury University (2002-04) and Averett University (2001).

The Germantown, Md., native is a proud graduate from Salisbury University (Class of 2001) where he majored in exercise science and physical education. While at Salisbury, Goldstein started two years at linebacker for the Sea Gulls. Goldstein transferred to SU from Frostburg State University where he played two seasons.

Goldstein earned his Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine (Calif.) in May 2015.

Goldstein and his wife Stephanie have three sons (Hunter, Liam, Finley) and reside in Prince Frederick, Md.
