WASHINGTON – The 2026 season began for the Gallaudet University softball team on a sunny and cool Friday afternoon at the GU Softball Complex as the Bison played host to Wilson College.
Gallaudet (2-0) fell in a non-conference doubleheader to Wilson by scores of 10-1 and 12-1, with the second game ended in five innings.
Gallaudet opened the first game with six hits and scored a run when first year
Sophia Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.) singled down the right-field line. However, the buff and blue committed six errors, which the Phoenix turned into six runs.
Wascher and sophomore
Kinsley Bond (Beulaville, N.C.) led the Bison with two hits each.
The Bison were held to three hits in the second game with Bond drove in the team's only run on an RBI single. Wilson's big seven-run second inning created a big lead and ended the contest early in the fifth inning under the mercy rule.
Senior pitcher
Lacey Drolsbaugh (Lansdale, Pa.) took the loss in both games for the Bison after started each contest in the circle. Drolsbaugh struck out 8 batters and allowed four walks in 8.2 innings total.

GU will travel to Hood College (0-2) this Wednesday, March 4 for a non-conference doubleheader.
