WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University men's volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to Eastern University on Thursday night at the Field House. The Eagles defeated Bison 25-20, 25-16, 25-23 in non-conference action.
Gallaudet (3-8) battled early and was tied 12-12 before Eastern (7-8) used a five-point run to seize momentum and take the opening set.
The buff and blue struggled to find offensive rhythm in the second set, posted a negative hitting percentage (-0.032) as Eastern recorded 13 kills to secure the set.
The third set was more exciting with nine ties and three lead changes. GU delivered its better offensive effort but the Eagles built early control and led 20-13. The Bison answered with a six-point run to close the gap and stay late. Despite the surge, Gallaudet could not overcome the deficit as Eastern secured the set to complete the sweep.

Zachary Bippus (Fishers, Ind.) led the Bison with 16 match-high kills and recorded six digs. Sophomore setter
Troy Holcomb (Fremont, Calif.) passed out 22 assists, served two aces and two blocks. Sophomore middle hitter
Tyler Wascher (Noblesville, Ind.) led the Bison with three blocks. First year outside hitter
Pax Holcomb (Cheverly, Md.) served two aces.
The Eagles was led by Kaodi Wokocha, who recorded 10 kills, while Ronan Landis tallied 20 assists.

Gallaudet will host Marymount (Va.) University (8-7) this Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m. in the Field House for a non-conference match.
