SALISBURY, Md. – The Gallaudet University women's cross country team placed 10th at Salisbury University's Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Bison competed through rainy and muddy conditions as 88 runners completed the 6-kilometer course at WinterPlace Park.
Batten University's Ester Zar won the race with a time of 20 minutes, 23 seconds. Zar, a sophomore, was more than 46 seconds ahead of Salisbury University's Anna Bodmer (21:10), who placed second.
Gallaudet's top finisher was
Hannah Alford (Reidsville, N.C.) in her debut for the buff and blue. Alford finished 63rd overall with a time of 29:11.
One place behind Alford was first year
Natalie Greene (Houston, Texas), who finished 64th overall in 29:55. Sophomore
Jala Furdge (Brandon, Miss.) was the third Bison to cross the finish line as she placed 70th in 31:14.
First year
Xue Atwood (Twin Falls, Idaho) was Gallaudet's next finisher with a time of 32:15 to place 76th overall. First year
Dev Sklar (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring five for the Bison with a 79th-place finish in 34:48.
First year
Tori Cushshon (Laurel, Md.) completed the course in 1:03:41 to finish 88th overall.
Host Salisbury won the meet with 44 points, followed by Johns Hopkins University with 53 points. The College of New Jersey finished one point behind Johns Hopkins in third place with 54 points. Gallaudet finished 10th out of 11 scoring teams with 243 points.
