WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Gallaudet women's swimming team headed north to Maryland on Saturday to McDaniel College for a non-conference tri-meet against McDaniel College and Goucher College.

The Bison swam competitively against Goucher and only lost by 16 points, 52-36, while the host Green Terror rolled to a 75-15 win over Gallaudet (0-12). McDaniel (4-8) swam to a 56-37 victory over Goucher (1-8).
McDaniel is coached by former Gallaudet swimming head coach
Bill Snape, who led the Bison swim program from 2004-12 and coached current Gallaudet head coachÂ
Brian Bennett (2009-12). This marked the third straight season these two programs have swam against each other.Â

First year
Adelle Patton (Puyallup, Wash.) was the only Gallaudet swimmer in the 100-yard backstroke and was second to touch the wall with a time of 1:18.61.

Later in the meet, first year
Hope MacPeek (Russellville, Ark.) made waves for the Bison as she took silver in the 500-yard freestyle (6:50.17) and was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle (14:02.55).

The meet concluded with the 400-yard relay as the Gallaudet team of MacPeek, sophomore
Melany Salcedo Benavides (Woodbridge, Va.), first year
Youstina Alesha (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and sophomore
Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.) recorded a second-place finish (5:51.79).
BISON TRACKS
- Miller took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (40.03) and was sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:30.95)Â
- Patton was fourth in the 400-yard IM (6:27.93)
- Sophomore Eliza Peterson (Snellville, Ga.) was fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:57.33), 200-yard freestyle (3:35.36)
- Salcedo Benavides was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle (9:18.49)
- First year Mary Figueroa (Moreno Valley, Calif.) was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (40.47)
- Alesha was sixth in the 200-yard freestyle (4:00.89)
- GU's 200-yard medley relay team of first year Alma Robinson (Austin, Texas), Peterson, Patton and Alesha with a time of 3:05.43
UP NEXT
GU will travel to Murfreesboro, N.C., next Saturday, Jan. 31, to face Chowan University and King University in a non-conference meet against two NCAA Division II programs.
