Free throws and 3-point shooting woes hinder Bison on the road

LA PLUME, Pa. – The quest for the first road win of the season continues for the Gallaudet University men's basketball team.

The Bison lost to Keystone College by 40 points, 109-69, here Saturday in a United East conference game as these two teams met each other for the first time.

Gallaudet (1-12, 0-6 United East) struggled from 3-point range (5-for-23) and the free-throw line (8-for-19) as the Bison trailed 52-37 at the half and were outscored 57-32 in the second half.

Keystone (4-13, 2-4 United East) was nearly perfect from the free-throw line as the Giants made 18 of 19 attempts which includes 13-for-13 in the second half. The Giants shot 54.7 percent (41 of 75) from the field and drained nine 3-pointers in the win.

The Bison had three players in double figures led by first-year forward Jayden Orsi-Pedersen (Frederick, Md.) with 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Sophomore forward Wyatt Carlson (Hubertus, Wis.) chipped in 11 points and six rebounds while sophomore guard Brandon Washington (Citronelle, Ala.) came off the bench to net 10 points and four boards. Sophomore guard Jory Valencia (Riverside, Calif.) was held in check with nine points as he passed out a team-high seven assists to go with seven rebounds.

Keystone was led by PJ Murphy's 28 points while teammate Jden Golding just missed a triple-double with 16 points, a game-high nine assists and eight rebounds. The Giants had three more players in double figures as the host team played 11 players in the win.
