MINNEAPOLIS - Gallaudet University junior running back Marcus Brown-Gabriel (Beeville, Texas) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Brown-Gabriel ran for a career-high 217 yards on 26 carries (8.3 yards per carry) and scored two touchdowns as the Bison won their ODAC debut, 39-30, over Averett University last Saturday at Hotchkiss Field. Brown-Gabriel had 94 rushing yards on nine carries (10.4 yards per carry) in the first half and went for 123 yards on 17 carries (7.2 yards) in the second half. He ran hard through Averett tacklers the entire day. He broke through several tackles late in the fourth quarter when he made a short gain turn into a 19-yard touchdown run to put the icing on the cake for the Bison in their nine-point victory. Brown-Gabriel also scored Gallaudet's first touchdown on a 7-yard run in the first quarter.
This is the 17th time that Gallaudet has had a representative on the D3football.com Team of the Week as 19 different student-athletes have been honored since 2011. Brown-Gabriel is the third Gallaudet running back/slot to be honored by D3football.com in GU program history as he joins Dre'Vaughn Mackall (Oct. 8, 2024) and two-time honoree Brandon Washington (Sept. 20 and Nov. 8, 2022).
