BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - The Gallaudet Bison women's triathlon team faced a tough challenge at the 2025 Beaver Tri Cup/Duquesne University Invitational here Saturday at Brady's Run Park. With a chilly water temperature of 70 degrees and an uphill course on the bike and run, the race proved physically demanding for the athletes. Despite these conditions, Gallaudet finished 13th out of 13 teams with a total score of 101 points, as the Bison demonstrated resilience through a difficult day on the course.
Sophomore Ashley Corcoran (Broussard, La.) was the top performer for Gallaudet, finishing in one hours and 35 minutes and 18 seconds (1:35:18), with a swim time of 20:34, a bike split of 40:45, and a run time of 29:57. First year Jasmine Jimenez Lara (Gilroy, Calif.) followed with a time of 1:38:52, while sophomore Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.) finished in 1:42:49 (22:09 swim, 45:26 bike, 31:15 run). First year Adelle Patton (Puyallup, Wash.) crossed the line in 1:45:53, and fellow first year Brianna Doolittle (Austin, Texas) completed the race in 1:46:43. First year Melany Salcedo Benavides (Woodbridge, Va.) finished in 1:51:35, while first year Marcella Schular (Colorado Springs, Colo.) unfortunately did not finish (DNF) after completing the swim and bike due to a knee injury. The race was a tough test for the team, but each athlete pushed through the challenging conditions, gaining valuable experience for future competitions.
