MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The Gallaudet University women's triathlon team placed fifth among six NCAA teams Sunday at the Robious Landing Triathlon hosted by the Live Red Foundation. GU accumulated 37 team points as three returning Bison recorded personal best times at Robious Landing Park.

Junior Alecia Miller (Litchfield, Ill.) led Gallaudet with a time of one hour, 23 minutes, 29 seconds as she improved by over two minutes from her previous best time at Robious Landing. Miller posted a 11:54 swim, 42:03 bike and 27:47 run times on Sunday.

Sophomore Marcella Shular (Colorado Springs, Colo.) followed in 1:25:05, lowering her 2025 Robious Landing time by 5:07. Shular also recorded the Bison's fastest run of the day at 25:56.

First year Priya Frank (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished just behind Shular in 1:25:59. Frank recorded Gallaudet's fastest swim at 9:37 and fastest bike split at 39:46.

Sophomore Melany Salcedo Benavides (Woodbridge, Va.) continued the strong showing with a 1:27:31 finish, making the largest year-over-year improvement on the team with a 7:20 drop from her 2025 Robious Landing time. First year Mariska Dize (Port Richey, Fla.) followed in 1:31:11, while sophomore Adelle Patton (Puyallup, Wash.) finished in 1:36:15, just 17 seconds off her time from last year's race. First year Jenna Callahan (Pocatello, Idaho) rounded out the Gallaudet finishers in 1:36:55.

GU's performance continues a strong opening stretch to the 2026 season. Gallaudet won the NCAA team competition at the Patriots Triathlon Festival one week ago, and the returning Bison returned to Robious Landing and made great improvements.

"We're excited to see how these triathletes perform at Desert's Edge after such a strong showing on the East Coast so far this season," said Gallaudet coach Brian Bennett.

Gallaudet will send a quartet of triathletes to participate in the Desert's Edge Triathlon at Highline Lake State Park in Loma, Colo., next Sunday, Sept. 27. The group includes Dize, Eicher, Frank and Shular.
