WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University Athletics Department and Gallaudet University's Counseling And Psychological Services (CAPS) have partnered again for the annual Mental Health Awareness weekend being held at several Bison athletic events this weekend.
GU Athletics and CAPS will be present at three different home athletic events on Sept. 19-20.Â
The weekend gets started with Gallaudet's home men's soccer game against Mary Baldwin University at Hotchkiss Field on Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m..
The awareness weekend continues on Saturday, Sept. 20, when women's volleyball plays host to UC Santa Cruz at noon in the Field House. The event will move outside to Hotchkiss Field for the 1 p.m. football game against Averett University.
At these events different speeches and words in American Sign Language (ASL) will be shared before the games along with a group photo, when permitted. Special Mental Health Awareness t-shirts will be given out on a first come, first served basis and other literature and information about Mental Health will be on hand.
