CHAMPS! Gallaudet women's flag football team claims United East tournament title

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – It was not a bad way to conclude the first season of women's flag football at Gallaudet University as the Bison won the United East tournament here Sunday on the campus of Penn State Harrisburg.

"No words can describe how proud we are and how much appreciation we have for our support systems and fans," said Gallaudet coach Emelia Beldon. "Together, we made HERstory!"

The top-seed Bison defeated the No. 4 seed Lions of Penn St. Harrisburg by 20 points, 26-6, in the semifinal round.
Gallaudet advanced to the championship against No. 2 seed Cairn University and the Bison shut out the Highlanders, 38-0.

"This team of individuals and coaches have been nothing but amazing from the minute we started preparing for the season until we won the United East championship. Even as a club the passion, energy, and vibes were unmatched and we could not ask for a better start to the future of women's flag football at Gallaudet," said Beldon. "We can't wait to run it back in 2026."

The win caps a perfect season for Gallaudet with an unblemished record of 7-0.

GU outscored its opponents 272-14 in seven games this season.

Unfortunately, there were no statistics kept by the host of the UEC tournament and little fanfare from the conference office due to this being a club sport.
